What we do

Windows & Doors for UK Commercial & Public Buildings

Supply and installation of windows, glazing and door sets for commercial and public sector buildings — combining fire performance where required with security, thermal and acoustic requirements. Every unit is installed to maintain the integrity of the surrounding structure, with fire-rated units delivered under the same certification and documentation as our fire doors and fire-rated partitions.

  • Fire-Rated Windows & Screens

Supply and installation of fire-rated glazed screens, borrowed lights and windows — 30 to 120 minutes integrity and insulation — certified as a complete tested system of glass, frame, beads and seals.

Where we work

Windows & Doors Across the UK

One specialist team, mobilised nationally. MGN operates from Cumbernauld, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, and installs windows and doors across Scotland, England and Wales.

Scotland

MGN serves commercial landlords, housing associations, NHS facilities and facilities management companies across Greater Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Lothians, and the wider Central Belt. Whether you're specifying units for a new commercial build or replacing windows and doors in an existing building — including the listed and period commercial properties of Edinburgh's Old Town and financial district — our Scottish team delivers within days.

England & Wales

We supply and install windows and door sets for commercial estates, public-sector bodies and main contractors across England and Wales, from single replacements to phased programmes across a portfolio — surveyed, specified and installed to one standard on a single managed contract.

Our credentials

Third-Party Accredited — IFSM, CHAS & BM TRADA Certified

Accreditation means an independent body has verified our processes, training and workmanship — not just our paperwork.

  • BM TRADA Q-Mark

    Fire door installation & maintenance

BM TRADA Q-Mark is the UK gold standard for fire door installation and maintenance. Holding this certification means our entire installation process — from specification to sign-off — has been independently assessed and approved. You can verify MGN's registration directly on the BM TRADA scheme website.

  • FDIS Inspection Scheme

    Fire door inspection certification

The Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) is the only nationally recognised scheme for fire door inspection in the UK. Only FDIS-registered inspectors can issue a fire door inspection certificate that carries genuine third-party weight with insurers and enforcing authorities. Most contractors offering fire door inspections are not FDIS registered.

    Verify our registration
  • CHAS Accredited

    Health & safety pre-qualification

CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) is the standard pre-qualification requirement for most public sector procurement across the UK. If your building is NHS, council or publicly funded, MGN's CHAS accreditation means we can be appointed without additional vetting.

  • IFSM Member

    Institute of Fire Safety Managers

IFSM membership demonstrates ongoing commitment to professional development and regulatory awareness in fire safety management. It is a signal that MGN's team stays current with legislative changes and best practice — not just at time of certification, but continuously.

The law

Fire-rated windows and doors must be certified and correctly installed to perform as intended. Where a door set or glazing unit forms part of a building's fire strategy, the responsible person carries legal liability if it's non-compliant or incorrectly fitted.

  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 & Fire (Scotland) Act 2005

Place a continuing duty on the responsible person to maintain fire-resisting doors and glazing in efficient working order and good repair. Non-compliance can result in criminal prosecution.

  • Building Regulations — Approved Document B & Technical Handbook Section 2

Set the fire-resistance requirements for doors and glazed elements on compartment lines and escape routes in England & Wales and Scotland respectively.

  • BS EN 1634-1 · BS 476-22 · BS 8214

The fire-resistance test standards for door and shutter assemblies and glazed elements, and the code of practice for the installation of fire door assemblies.

  • BS 9999 & BS 8213-4

British Standards governing fire safety in building design and the survey and installation of windows and external door sets.

A fire door or fire-rated window that is uncertified or incorrectly installed can invalidate a building's fire strategy and expose the responsible person to liability. Certification and correct installation must be documented to be defensible.

This summary is not legal advice — your own fire risk assessment sets out the specific duties for your building.

Quick answers

  • Where the opening requires it, yes. We supply and install fire-rated glazed screens, windows and door sets certified from 30 to 120 minutes, installed as complete tested systems. We also install non-fire-rated architectural windows and doors where fire performance isn't required — the specification follows the building's fire strategy.
