What we do

Complete Fire Door Services for UK Commercial & Public Buildings

A fire door only protects a building if it's specified, installed and maintained correctly — and every component, from the leaf and frame to the intumescent seals and ironmongery, has to work as a certified assembly. MGN Group delivers the full lifecycle in-house: survey, supply, installation, inspection, repair and ongoing maintenance. Every job is documented for your fire safety file and carried out to current British Standards, giving you a clear, auditable trail of compliance — as part of our wider passive fire protection services.

  • Fire Door Installation

Supply and installation of certified FD30 and FD60 fire door assemblies for new-build and refurbishment projects. Installed as a complete, tested set — leaf, frame, seals and ironmongery — with certification and photographic evidence on completion.

  • Fire Door Inspections & Surveys

Third-party fire door inspections against the full 30+ point check, identifying defects in gaps, seals, glazing, hinges and closers. Full condition reports with a prioritised remedial schedule for your responsible person.

Where we work

Fire Door Services Across the UK

MGN Group works with clients the length and breadth of the UK, mobilising directly-employed fire door teams to sites across Scotland, England and Wales. Whether it's a single building or a national portfolio, we deliver consistent, certified fire door installation, inspection and maintenance to one standard — coordinated centrally, executed locally.

From our base in Scotland, we support commercial estates, public-sector bodies and main contractors nationwide, and we're set up to roll out multi-site programmes across regions on a single managed contract. Fire doors work alongside compartmentation and fire stopping — and are usually identified in your fire risk assessment.

What we cover

Fire Door Compliance for Every Building Type

Different buildings carry different fire door duties. We work across the sectors where compliance matters most:

  • Commercial Buildings

Offices, retail and mixed-use — keeping escape routes and compartmentation compliant with minimal disruption to occupiers.

  • NHS & Healthcare

Fire doors in live clinical environments, delivered to HTM standards with strict infection-control and access requirements.

  • Education

Schools, colleges and universities — compliant doors across busy, high-footfall estates, scheduled around term time.

  • Housing & Landlords

Flat entrance and communal fire doors for social and private landlords, meeting the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 check duties.

  • New Build Developments

Certified installation coordinated with main contractors and programme, with handover documentation for building control.

  • Facilities Management

Ongoing inspection and maintenance programmes for FMs managing single sites or national portfolios.

Regulations

Responsibility for fire doors sits with the building's “responsible person” or duty-holder — and the legal framework has tightened significantly. These are the key duties MGN Group helps you meet across the UK:

  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

The primary fire safety legislation for non-domestic premises in England & Wales. Requires the responsible person to ensure fire doors are correctly specified, installed and maintained.

  • Fire Safety Act 2021 & Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022

The 2022 Regulations introduced specific fire door duties: in buildings over 11m, responsible persons must carry out quarterly checks of communal fire doors and, on a best-endeavours basis, annual checks of flat entrance doors.

  • Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 & Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006

The equivalent duties for premises in Scotland — MGN Group's home jurisdiction and where our compliance track record was built.

  • BS 8214 · BS 476-22 / BS EN 1634-1 · BS 9999

The British Standards governing fire door assembly installation (BS 8214), fire-resistance testing (BS 476-22 / BS EN 1634-1) and fire safety in building design (BS 9999). Our work is carried out to these standards.

This summary is not legal advice — your own fire risk assessment sets out the specific duties for your building.

Quick answers

  • For buildings over 11m in England, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 require quarterly checks of communal fire doors and annual checks of flat entrance doors. As best practice, all fire doors in commercial and public buildings should be professionally inspected at least annually — and more frequently in high-traffic settings. MGN provides both routine checks and formal third-party inspections.
